Traffic is down to one lane
Update 2:48pm: New York State Police say the accident has been cleared and all lanes are now open.

A dump truck hauling sand flipped over on the Northway Tuesday morning. Police say it happened around 8:20am when the vehicle, traveling northbound between exits 10 and 11 landed on its side, spilling sand all over the highway. The Northway is down to one lane with backups reaching exit 8A.
State Police are asking drivers to avoid the area if at all possible. The clean up is expected to take quite some time.
